This course builds on the ISO 14064-2 Essentials course and is intended to give a detailed understanding of Greenhouse Gas projects to project developers and practitioners. Several case studies from across different industry sectors are used as a means of applying the requirements of ISO 14064-2 in a comprehensive way. A more detailed review of greenhouse gas schemes such as the Clean Development mechanism and how they fit with ISO 14064-2 is explored in this course. Upon completion of this course, participants will be better prepared to plan and manage GHG projects, and prepare for the validation and verification of GHG project emission reductions or removal enhancements.
Validation is the systematic, independent and documented process for the evaluation of a greenhouse gas (GHG) assertion in a GHG project plan against agreed validation criteria. Validation is normally performed for GHG emission reduction projects before they are implemented and it helps ensure that the project conforms to the requirements of a standard or the rules of a GHG program. This 2-day course will provide detailed training on the approach to validation using the ISO 14064-3 standard, with specific examples of how the validation approach would be applied to a project that conforms with the ISO 14064-2 standard or the requirements of the WRI/WBCSD GHG Project Protocol.
This course provides a background and introduction to reducing your carbon footprint through greenhouse gas projects. Projects that both reduce emissions (e.g. alternative energy systems) and enhance emission removals (e.g. forestry projects) are addressed. The course reviews the requirements of ISO 14064-2, including principles and requirements for determining project baselines, monitoring, quantifying and reporting project performance, and validation and verification requirements. The course also explores the linkages between ISO 14064-2 and other GHG protocols, such as the WRI/WBCSD GHG Protocol for projects and the Voluntary Carbon Standard. Potential linkages with the Clean Development Mechanism will also be discussed.
This comprehensive two day course covers the specific requirements organizations must follow to report emission inventories to The Climate Registry (TCR). Starting with an overall introduction to The Climate Registry and the reporting options available under the TCR rules, attendees will learn about the specific emission estimation techniques under ISO 14064 Standards, WBCSD/WRI GHG Protocol as well as the tools available from TCR to assist in the reporting process. The Climate Registry Essentials Course will give participants the comprehensive knowledge to compile a TCR-compliant GHG inventory for their organization and the specific tools needed to create an emissions report for The Climate Registry.
